DERMA E Microdermabrasion Scrub

Where are my acne sufferers? I'm raising my hand high on this one! I don't know if I even remember a time where I didn't have acne. I feel like I started getting acne around 5th grade, but it really had its shining moment in my middle school and early high school years! Looking back, I really must've been a site to see. Acne everywhere, terrible clothing (because we didn't have a lot of money), greasy looking bangs & braces. WOW! No wonder I didn't have many boyfriends during that time.

I was introduced to DERMA E about a year and a half ago. Not sure where from - maybe Instagram. Like most of us, I was tired of trying "top rated, popular must-have" acne products just to be disappointed. When I saw DERMA E, I read so many great reviews, that I couldn't help but try it. Well, that and me being at my wit's end with my skin! I decided to buy their Reduce Acne Scars set. It was a bit higher than I wanted, but I decided it may be worth it. At the time, it ran around $60. It was definitely an investment for me. (I'm not one who likes to spend a ton of money on products.) This set includes: Scar gel, Microdermabrasion scrub & Acne Rebalancing cream. I really enjoyed ALL of these!

Now, I know y'all are thinking "umm..Amanda. You're only showing one product here. Why not the whole set?" And my answer is, that's a fair question; however, when I review, I like to focus on one product at a time. Maybe it's my OCD, but I find it's easier to sit down and review one product in-depth versus multiple products with possible "meh" reviewing. I mean, I can only say so much in a blog post. Do any of you fellow bloggers just get tired of typing?

So anyway, back to this product. I can't say if one product from this set worked better than the other. Maybe they worked so well because I used them altogether. But what I can say, is this scrub was my favorite to use. Most of us who have acne also have fairly sensitive skin. Using microdermabrasion scrubs can be more harmful than helpful. Now, you do need to keep in mind this is a scrub so it's naturally built to scrub off the dead skin. There's no need to apply much pressure, if any when applying this to your skin. As long as you keep that in mind, you should be fine.

In the beginning, I used it once a week. I used it on Wednesdays because I felt it was easier to remember since it feel in the middle of the week. I eventually worked my way up to twice per week, but I honestly wouldn't use it more than that. One thing I love about this scrub is you don't need to use a lot at a time, so it lasts use for some time.

Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty! This claims to buff away dullness and smooth fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. I can't really speak on the fine lines/wrinkles but I definitely noticed smoother skin and less noticeable scarring - which were my main concerns.

Ingredient call outs:

Natural astringents - such as lemon and lime peel: I tend to stay away from citrus when it comes to skincare because my skin tends to hate it! Maybe it's too strong? But, I didn't notice any breakouts or irritation when using this.

Vitamin E: this is a rich antioxidant which helps in moisturizing & delivering a plumpness to your skin offering a more youthful appearance.

Grape Seed: contains lots of nourishing vitamins

Stearic Acid: helps remove dirt and bacteria

Sweet almond oil: soothing

Jojoba seed oil: promotes cell renewal

Kaolin clay: remove impurities & absorbs excess oil to prevent breakouts

**All ingredients are naturally derived - either by plant or vegetable.

***GMO free, gluten free, soy free, cruelty free, vegan & recyclable packaging. No ptalates, sulfates, mineral oils or fragrances.

If you decide to use this product, I recommend doing a small patch test to see how it does. I really love this product and it has made me a firm believer in DERMA E products. This post is in no way affiliated with DERMA E and I was not compensated in any way to make this post.
