Mother's Day Ideas

Let's talk moms! For most us, our moms are our lifelong best friends. They love us even when we may not be lovable at times (my teenage years were the most fun for her...) Lord knows my mom and I had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, she is the woman who sacrificed A LOT to make sure I was taken care of. So, for this Mother's Day, I want to show my gratitude my dedicating this post to her.

Below are some ideas for you to do for your mom this Mother's Day as well as some fun DIY's that are mom-approved by my own mother. She always enjoys the things I make for her....unless you count that one time I cooked her squash and she told me loved it, but she really didn't. (See what I mean guys...sacrifices!)

Last year I made my mom a beauty bag with moisturizer, leave-in conditioning spray, exfoliating face wash & an insomnia blend for that extra beauty sleep. The essential oils used in the moisturizer are catered to her skin needs so you can switch out the essential oils to what your mother needs in her beauty routine.

Aloe Rose moisturizer:
Equal parts aloe gel & sweet almond oil
5 drops Frankincense
5 drops Rosehip oil
5 drops vitamin E oil

Mix ingredients together in glass jar and it's ready to use. It doesn't take much so start with a small amount and then add more to your face, if needed.

Leave-in hair conditioner spray:
1/2 oz water
5 drops Lavender
1 TBS vegetable glycerin
1 TBS vitamin E oil

Shake the bottle before each use. The amount you need to use will depend on hair's thickness.

Exfoliating face wash:
1/4 cup Dr. Bronner's green tea castille soap
2 TBS witch hazel
8 drops Lavender
2 TBS honey
2 TBS baking soda
1 TBS Dr. Bronner's cherry blossom castille soap

Shake bottle before each use. For added bubbles, use with a loofah.

Insomnia essential oil blend:
6 drops Vetiver
6 drops Lavender

You can use this in a roller and add a carrier oil or you can simply use this as an inhaler.

If DIY isn't your thing, here are a few other ideas:

Spa Day
Take her to brunch/lunch
Cook her favorite meal
Mother & daughter movie date

Most moms just like to visit with their daughters so if you're low on funds, just go visit with her. Bonus points if you clean her house while you're there! One less chore for her to do :)

xoxo,
Amanda
