I Found a Dinosaur
Hey guys! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I spent most of mine doing some Spring cleaning, and unfortunately haven't even touched the surface! I wish there was some magic fairy who could snap my closet back in order and make all the things I no longer wear just disappear. When my closet is in order, I feel like my whole life is put together. Is that weird?
My husband and I also spent our Saturday going to garage sales. I am so glad it's finally garage sale season! My husband is a full-time re-seller and I am part time (for now) so anytime we can find items for a discounted price, we are there for it! Plus, who doesn't love a hunt? You never know what you're going to come across when you hit up a garage sale, so when you find that huge mirror with a gold frame that has amazing detail for only $5, you do a small happy dance and buy it! We also got a love seat off of Craigslist for free and it is in excellent condition! The guy was moving in two days and needed to get rid of it ASAP. Score!
I can't talk about amazing deals without talking about my HomeGoods experience a few weeks back. I walked in there not expecting to really buy anything, but I had a $100 gift card so I knew it'd be okay to spend some money if I came across something that I couldn't live without.
Ten seconds in, I saw about twenty things I couldn't live without! (This was going to be hard).
I came across some of their lamps that were on clearance and found a lamp that was perfect for our living room. We had actually been looking for a lamp so finding it on clearance was amazing! It was originally $68 and was on clearance for $39.99!
Next was the isle of journals/planners. I'm a planner girl and I LOVE my Erin Condren life planners! Being on a budget this year, I just couldn't allow myself to spend $60 on a planner. HomeGoods has so many planners, you guys! I found a few that I really liked, but they didn't have quite the same layout as my EC and I was determined to find something similar because I was used to that layout and it's what best worked for me. I almost gave up until I saw a hardback life planner by Eric Condren for $7.99!! Let me repeat that: Erin Condren Life Planner for $7.99!!! SOLD! It was the exact vertical layout that I had been looking for.
Other cool finds were a small group of pink faux flowers for $9.99, a pitcher for $10.00, and a dinosaur planter with faux succulents (and it smells like vanilla) for $6.99. As you can see in the picture below, I used the pitcher as a vase. It really helped to bring out the gold in our table as well as match with the dinosaur, which is now my favorite piece because I'm a huge dinosaur nerd!
The total of all my items was $82.16 so I still had money left over on my card! There's no way I would have spent an equal amount of money or less, if I bought these at a department store. I am so happy with my purchases and I have placed all of them on my side table in our living room - with the exception of my planner, of course. Our living room looks so refreshed with the new decor and that little corner is now my happy place.
I hope you enjoyed my finds! I would love to hear about some of your favorite pieces that you have found from HomeGoods.
